He wrote, produced and directed 7 short films awarded with more than 30 film awards and nominations, and selected more than 100 times on the official sections of independent cinema festivals around the world. The most highlighted are: Rosas Rotas, with the Goya nominated actress Macarena Gómez as main character. La Otra, with 8 awards and six nominations in international festivals. Madre Reflejo, awarded as best fiction movie on the 12 Months Films Festival of Romania 2020, and the best drama movie on the Barcelona fiction film festival 2020, among others. Abril, directed and recorded during quarantine, which also received different awards. Lastly, Tina, La Cuarta Víctima, a feminist social critique project in which Aleix was given the Award to Best Director on the Indie For you film festival (LA, California). The film also won the award to the best lead actress, among many others awards and nominations.

Aleix Masferrer López - Director

Aleix Masferrer López wrote, produced and directed seven short films awarded with more than 30 nominations and film awards, plus being selected more than 100 times on the official sections of independent cinema festivals all over the world.

He studied at ESCAC and graduated on a degree of filmmaking at the ITES Barcelona. He also did a graduate program on Cinematographic Production and Direction on the Cinema School of Barcelona, which is part of the Politecnic University of Catalonia (UPC). As he was studying his graduate degree, Alex directed the short films “Ya no te quiero” (2009) and “Despierta” (2008), the latest recorded in 35mm and led by Bibiana Schönhöfer, premiering at the Fantasporto International Film Festival (Portugal).

During 2009, while he was working as production chief on Canal Català TV, Aleix directed three music videos for the band Barrionegro.

In 2011, he wrote, produced and directed “Rosas Rotas”, with Lorena Franco, Bibiana Schönhöfer, and the Goya nominated actress Macarena Gómez as main characters.

He directed a TV commercial for Freixenet in 2012, interpreted by Lorena Franco and Noé Blancafort. In 2014, he worked as a producer on the TV programme “8 al Dia” on 8TV, and directed the official music video for Barcelona’s Pride, “A New Illusion” by Olalla.

In 2017, he wrote, produced, and directed his fourth short film “La Otra”, which casted Nur Aiza as main character. This movie got 8 film awards and 6 nominations on international festivals, such as the Best Director Award on the 12 months film festival of Romania, Special mention of the jury on the Oriana awards, or the Award from the Public at the Feslacor Film Festival Venezuela. Moreover, during that same year Aleix also worked on the production of the news agency in Mediaset España.

At the end of 2018, Aleix wrote, co-produced, and directed his fifth short film “Madre Reflejo” (Fuera de Campo Films), with Nur Aiza as main character once again. With more than 40 official selections, the film was awarded with the Best Fiction Movie awards on the 12 Months Film Festival of Romania 2020, and with the Best Drama Film on the Barcelona Fiction Film Festival 2020, among others.

In 2020, when he was already working on the TV programmes production department at Globomedia Barcelona (The Mediapro Studio), he launched his sixth short film: “Abril”. This movie was very special, as it was written, directed and filmed during the quarantine of COVID-19. It received different awards such as the Best short Movie Award at the Miniindie Film Festival 2020 or the Best Script Award at the BIMIFF Brazil international Independent Film Festival 2020 Among others.

In 2021. Aleix released “Tina; The Fourth Victim”, a feminist project dedicated to raise awareness of a social drama such as the drug-facilitated sexual assaults and chemical submission. This short film had been selected in more than 25 independent cinema festivals and received 6 different awards so far, such as the Best director Award at The Indie For You Film Festival 2022 (LA, California), Best Main character actress for Rita Raymundo in the World Independent Cinema Awards WICA 2022 (New York), or the Best Short Film Award on the VIMIFF 2022 (Brazil), among others.

Aleix is currently writing the script for his first feature film: “Mi Última Llamada”
