John Finn is an American actor, director, and writer known for his prolific career in film and television. With Irish-American roots, Finn began his path to acting after graduating from Eldred Central School in 1970 and serving in the U.S. Navy for several years.

Finn made his film debut in 1984 with “The Pope of Greenwich Village” and has since participated in a long list of feature films, including notable titles like “Glory” (1989), “Catch Me If You Can” (2002), and “Ad Astra” (2019), under the direction of some of Hollywood’s most prominent directors such as Steven Spielberg, Clint Eastwood, and Edward Zwick.

Additionally, he has demonstrated his versatility as a director and writer, directing and writing the short film “Hoist Away” in 1996, and directing and producing “Saved Rounds” in 2019.

His television career began with his debut in the series “B.J. and the Bear” in 1979, and he has appeared in numerous TV series over the years, including “The Incredible Hulk”, “Law & Order”, “NYPD Blue”, and “The Walking Dead”, with his most recognized role being Lieutenant John Stillman in “Cold Case”.

John Finn, born on September 30, 1952, in the Bronx, New York, is an American actor, director, and writer of Irish-American descent. His journey in acting is notable both for its diversity and its late start, following several years of service in the U.S. Navy.

Finn graduated from Eldred Central School in Eldred, New York, in 1970. After graduation, he chose to serve in the Navy, an experience that undoubtedly shaped his character and discipline before embarking on his acting career.

His acting debut came in 1979 in the comedy “B.J. and the Bear”. This beginning marked the start of a prolific career in film and television.

Finn has had a notable presence in cinema since his big-screen debut with “The Pope of Greenwich Village” in 1984. Among his most prominent roles are appearances in “Glory” (1989), where he played Sergeant Major Mulcahy, and in “Catch Me If You Can” (2002), and “Ad Astra” (2019).

In addition to acting, Finn has explored directing and writing, standing out in the short film “Hoist Away” (1996) as director and writer, and in “Saved Rounds” (2019) as director and producer.

Finn’s television career has been equally prolific. His first role was in “B.J. and the Bear”, and since then, he has appeared in a wide range of TV series. He is well known for his character Lieutenant John Stillman in “Cold Case”, but he has also had significant roles in “The Incredible Hulk”, “Law & Order”, “NYPD Blue”, and more recently in “The Walking Dead”.
