Jesús Carmona is the most important Flamenco dancer in the present dancing scene, having received the 2021 Benois de la Danse Award (considered the Oscar award of the global dance). Furthermore, he also received the 2020 National Dance Award and two 2022 MAX awards of scenic arts as the Best Male Performer and Best Dance Show for “Dance of Beasts”.
Born in Badalona (Barcelona) in 1985, he started his flamenco training at the age of 7. In 2003, he graduated in Spanish and Flamenco dancing on the Royal Theater and Dance Institute, later expanding his training with the most relevant performants and creators of the time.
He was part of companies such as El Güito, Nuevo Ballet Español or Antonio Canales, among others. In 2006, he was selected to be a part of the Ballet Nacional de España, where he reached the category of First Dancer, and where he’s been participating as guest artist in the following years. His interest on creating and acting led him to leave his position at the BNE in order to create his own shows, giving birth to the Dance Company of Jesús Carmona, plus collaborating as creator for other artists and companies.
Among the shows of the Dance Company of Jesús Carmona we can find “Cuna Negra y Blanca” (2012), “7 Balcones” (2013), “Impetuʼs” (2015), “Equilibrio” (2017), “Amatør” (2018), “El Salto” (2020) y “Baile de Bestias” (2021).
Hailed as “A fenomenom of the flamenco world” by the New York Times, Carmona has danced on stages of more than 40 countries.

He is currently on a world tour with his shows “El Salto” (The Jump) and “Baile de Bestias” (Dance of Beasts), while he keeps training for the global release of Nacho Cano’s new musical theatre named Malinche, a theater super production that will get released on September 2022, where Jesús Carmona is the main choreographer and casts as one of the leading roles.
Moreover, Jesús just premiered in the Venezia Film Festival his first short film as an actor: “Letter To My Mother For My Son”. This film is his jump to the cinema alongside with the prestigious Spanish filmmaker Carla Simón, who was recently awarded at the German Berlinale.
